As Barcelona start preparing for the season ahead, Aleix Garcia is a name likely to dominate discussions within the board.

The Catalans were interested in signing the Girona star during the January transfer window, but the move did not materialise.

But as we move closer to the summer, Barcelona are seemingly keen on acquiring the services of the Spanish midfielder, who has left a solid impression in La Liga with his performances at Girona this season.

Barcelona confident of signing Garcia for €14-15 million

Signing Garcia will not be an easy task as the player still has a contract with Girona that doesn’t expire until 2026.

But as per Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are confident of sealing a deal with Girona for a fee of around €14-15 million.

Barcelona can afford such a figure despite the club’s ongoing economic woes. It must be noted, after all, that the Catalans are likely to offload a few unwanted stars, which should help them free up the budget to sign Garcia.

Moreover, Girona are keen on bringing back Oriol Romeu, which could help Barcelona further sweeten the deal, as far as Aleix Garcia is concerned.

A good signing for Barça?

The Blaugrana are primarily targeting Aleix Garcia as a reinforcement in the pivot position, while he could also be an alternative in the interior midfield roles for the likes of Pedri and Gavi.

Both players are, in fact, currently out injured, though Pedri is hoping for a return next month and might even make it to the European Championship this summer.

At the age of 26, Aleix Garcia could be an interesting alternative for Barcelona thanks to his technical prowess, versatility, and experience in Spanish football.

Garcia is also quite adaptive in the middle of the park and can operate in any position Barcelona desire. And for a fee of just €14-15 million, he could indeed prove to be a steal for the Catalans in the coming summer.
