With the new year on the horizon, FC Barcelona are still working to sort out the registrations of Spanish duo Dani Olmo and Pau Victor for the second half of the season.
The summer arrivals were only registered until December 31 back when they arrived and need to be re-registered with a solution yet to be found.
The Blaugrana have turned to the court for a resolution, as they are seeking a precautionary measure much like they did in Gavi’s case a couple of years back.
Barcelona confident about favourable verdict
In fact, according to SPORT, Barcelona remain confident that the judge at the Commercial Court No. 10 will grant the injunction again, allowing both Olmo and Victor from 1 January without any issues.
The Catalan giants expect to receive the judge’s decision on 27 December.
The lawyers representing the Blaugrana and those sent by La Liga were scheduled to meet at the Commercial Court No. 10 in Barcelona today morning.
As mentioned earlier, the situation is very similar to the one that Barça tackled with Gavi’s registration back in 2023, but there is a key difference.
This time, La Liga has sent its lawyers to a hearing and the judge has listened to both parties. It is the first time the organisation led by Tebas has been invited to such a session.
In January 2023, under the same judge, La Liga was not even summoned and could not attend. This time, however, the judge decided to hear them out, which raises the stakes for Barcelona and pushes Joan Laporta to prepare a backup plan, should the injunction fail.
It is worth noting that clubs such as Athletic Club, Atletico Madrid, and Sevilla have lobbied Tebas to prevent the registration of Olmo.
Despite everything, Barcelona are confident of receiving a positive verdict from the judge and expect Olmo and Victor be play normally in the new year.
