Nico Williams’ hesitation to commit to a transfer has seen Barcelona’s primary focus shift to Dani Olmo, another of Spain’s young stars at Euro 2024.

Trained at La Masia, the 26-year-old left the club ten years ago in search of a bigger role. He is now pushing for a return home and Barcelona have amped up efforts in recent weeks.

The Catalans had their initial offers to RB Leipzig rejected but have tabled an improved offer as of earlier this week and expect rapid developments.

A crucial week

As revealed in a recent update by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are confident that Olmo will arrive this summer. They expect positive news next week and hope to end the negotiations on a high.

While the player is currently on vacation, his agents plan to travel to Germany early next week to mediate talks and push for a resolution.

Barcelona’s latest offer for Olmo stands at €50 million with an additional €10 million in bonuses. Considering that Leipzig demand €60 million, the two parties are not far off.

The report even furthers that the Blaugrana’s latest offer includes €25 million to be paid as early as September, a significant improvement from the previous proposal.

Date set

Leipzig are yet to respond to Barcelona’s latest offer and are internally discussing if it meets their demands and valuation of the player.

Olmo is currently expected to return to training with Leipzig on August 8th, but Barcelona and the player are pushing to complete a transfer before that.

The Germans, however, insist that the player must return to train at the club facilities as they consider him their biggest asset after his Euro heroics.

The coming days will be critical in deciding the fate of the transfer. As it stands, however, the 26-year-old is well placed to become Barcelona’s second signing of the summer.
