Following back-to-back defeats to Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, the future of Xavi Hernandez has come under the microscope at Barcelona.
Earlier in the year, the Spaniard had announced his desire to leave Camp Nou at the end of the season. But Barça were hopeful Xavi would change his mind, especially if the club were able to win against PSG in midweek.
However, with back-to-back losses, it appears Xavi is tilting towards a departure and has reportedly called for a meeting with the Barcelona board to discuss his future.
Barcelona and Xavi to meet on Wednesday
A recent report from Matteo Moretto has offered a fresh update on Xavi’s situation at Barcelona.
It appears the Barcelona board and Xavi Hernandez are set to hold a meeting on Wednesday. It is going to an important summit, with Barça likely to try and convince the Spaniard to change his mind.

Barcelona remain optimistic
There is no secret that Xavi is keen on signing top players in the coming summer if he is to continue at Barcelona.
However, the club are not in a position to make any big-money signings and cannot make any promises to Xavi.
Despite that, the Catalans are confident of their chances of convincing Xavi to reverse his decision. It seems they want Xavi to continue despite the prospect of a trophyless campaign this season.
Xavi, after all, has played a crucial role in building a solid foundation in the Barcelona setup over the past couple of years. The project will only get better next season, as the club further hone the talent of stars such as Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi and other teenage superstars.
In contrast, Barcelona may have to start from scratch if Xavi does indeed leave the club at the end of the season. He has no shortage of suitors either, with Italian giants AC Milan keeping a close eye on his situation.
