FC Barcelona want to speed up the operations they have underway to put together the squad for the new season sooner rather than later.

And, nobody at the club hides the fact that Nico Williams of Athletic Club is the priority target to reinforce Barça’s left wing.

Just over a week ago, reports emerged claiming that the club had sent a football plan to Nico’s entourage with a salary offer that would rise exponentially if he played a minimum number of games.

Since then, though, there has been a lot of noise about Chelsea and Arsenal’s rising interest in the 22-year-old UEFA Euro 2024 winner’s services.

Barcelona certain about Nico Williams’ arrival

However, despite the growing interest, journalist Alex Pintanel reports that Barcelona consider the arrival of Nico Williams to be a certainty, as long as the Fair Play problems are solved.

As per the report, Barça themselves say that the agreement with the player is closed. The idea of the Blaugrana is to try to close the deal before Nico joins Athletic Club for the pre-season.

The Basque club will not negotiate the €58 million clause and, therefore, Barça need to achieve the 1:1 rule to sign the Spanish international.

At Barça they know that the forward would be happy to wear the Azulgrana shirt and play alongside his good friend Lamine Yamal.

In fact, it is even suggested that signing Nico is a part of the plan for Barça to keep Lamine happy and content at the club.

As such, it is now being stated that the Catalan giants see the 22-year-old Spaniard’s arrival as a guarantee as long as they are able to navigate their way around the FFP problems.
