With Barcelona closing in on the signing of Nico Williams, Raphinha’s future moves away from the Catalan club.

The Brazilian was indeed the team’s best player on the left wing last season, but the arrival of the Athletic Club star will almost certainly relegate him to the bench.

Moreover, Joan Laporta and Co. need the club to make a big sale before they can sign Williams and Raphinha is one of the players with the highest market value.

Back to England

Barcelona signed Raphinha from Leeds United where he starred between 2020 and 2022. With two years of experience under his belt in La Liga, the player could make a move back to England this summer, as revealed by SPORT.

The outlet further reveals that Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle United are all interested in the Brazilian winger and could look to push for his signing this summer.

Joan Laporta and Co. will not hesitate to sanction Raphinha’s sale if an offer of around €50 million arrives in the coming weeks.

Considering that the club purchased him for €58 million and an additional €9 million in variables, however, they will likely not even recover their investment on the player.

In the driver’s seat

Raphinha’s current contract with Barcelona runs until the summer of 2027 and includes a release clause set at a whopping €1 billion.

The Catalans, thus, are in the driver’s seat for any negotiations that ensue with interested parties. Needless to say, talks are expected to accelerate in the coming weeks.

Last season, the 27-year-old scored six goals and provided nine assists for the Blaugrana in La Liga. Further, he recorded three goals in the UCL, two of which came during his special brace vs PSG.
