Ez Abde was one of the youngsters that Barcelona shipped out last summer, with the winger opting to leave in search of regular game-time despite manager Xavi Hernandez wanting to keep him.
The Moroccan international signed for Real Betis in the summer, in a deal worth €7.5 million, with Barcelona retaining a 50% future sell-on clause as part of the operation.
And, there is a good chance that Barça might benefit from the insertion of the sell-on condition as early as this year.
Abde up for sale
Indeed, as per Mundo Deportivo, Real Betis have decided to put Abde up for sale this summer, with manager Manuel Pellegrini no longer counting on him.
With the season about to come to an end, the Moroccan forward is hardly getting any minutes in this final stretch.
Indeed, the 22-year-old has been an unused substitute in Betis’ last three La Liga games against Girona, Valencia and Celta.
In the three matches before that, he played one, two and minutes respectively against Atletico Madrid, Villarreal and Rayo Vallecano.
The report states that Abde’s delay in warming up and preparing for the game against Girona did not please Pellegrini, who decided to remove him from the starting line-up and give it to Rodri Sanchez. And now a summer departure is on the cards.
No shortage of suitors
As per the report, AC Milan are interested in signing Abde, having shown a keenness to snap up his services last summer as well.
Furthermore, there are several teams in La Liga who would be willing to take the 22-year-old up, although they might not be in a position to meet Betis’ asking price for the winger.
Either way, Barcelona stand to gain financially as Abde nears an exit from Betis.
