Robert Lewandowski’s contract with Barcelona has some specific terms that could impact his future at the club, as reported by Ivan San Antonio in SPORT

Lewandowski, who joined Barça from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022, signed a four-year deal. His arrival followed a lot of hard work from the club, not only to negotiate with Bayern but also to agree on a contract that suited the Polish forward.

At 34 years old, Lewandowski was still in exceptional form, which justified the club’s decision to offer him a long-term contract.

Now in the third year of his contract, there are certain conditions that must be met for Lewandowski to continue into his fourth and final year.

In the first year, his salary was set at €20 million gross, which then increased to €26 million in the second year, and now reaches €32 million for the current season.

However, from 1 July 2025, his salary will drop back to €26 million, should he remain at the club for that final year.

The crucial part of his contract is a clause that could allow Barcelona to terminate the agreement. This clause states that Lewandowski must play in at least 55% of the matches this season for his contract to continue.

However, not all appearances count. Only the games where he either starts or plays at least 45 minutes are considered.

Given Lewandowski’s current status as a key player under Hansi Flick, it seems likely that he will meet this requirement. So far, he has been a regular starter, and Flick has only rested him briefly, like in the last 15 minutes of the match before the international break.

As things stand, Lewandowski is on track to fulfil the conditions of his contract, allowing him to enter the final year of his deal, which he hopes to complete.
