Clement Lenglet’s future at Barcelona is far from certain, as in recent weeks, there has been much discussion about his status with the team.

Despite his performances on the field, his high salary continues to be a significant issue for Barcelona, hindering their progress in the transfer market.

Currently, Lenglet is impressing Hansi Flick, but his continuity with Barcelona remains challenging and the club is actively seeking solutions to address this situation.

According to SPORT, Barcelona’s primary goal is to find a permanent resolution for him and while terminating his contract has been ruled out, the club is considering creative solutions to reduce his salary and potentially facilitate a loan move.

What is Barcelona’s plan with Lenglet?

Lenglet’s salary is one of the highest in the squad due to the deferred payments agreed upon during his last contract renewal.

This high salary prevents Barcelona from registering him and makes it difficult for other European clubs to make offers, as they cannot afford even half of his current wages.

One possible solution is to extend Lenglet’s contract and spread the payments over a longer period, making him a more attractive option for potential buyers.

Lenglet is fully aware of his situation and is doing everything he can to remain with Barcelona. He understands that staying is not a priority for the club, so he is also exploring other opportunities.

Barcelona plan to take the Samuel Umtiti way

In the past, he has refused to consider offers from Saudi Arabia, as he wishes to stay in Europe and continue competing at the highest level.

Barcelona appreciate Lenglet’s professionalism and his willingness to explore various options. They have not ruled out any possibilities, including a contract renewal similar to what they did with Samuel Umtiti.

Umtiti extended his contract by two years to help the club manage its salary cap by distributing the financial amounts over a longer period. Reducing Lenglet’s salary could also open doors for clubs interested in signing him.

This summer, several clubs have shown interest in Lenglet, including Milan, Napoli, and Sevilla.

Besiktas made inquiries but withdrew due to financial constraints. Real Sociedad are also reportedly interested in him, making a salary reduction a potential key to securing a move.
