With the summer transfer window only four months away, Barcelona are already laying out the roadmap to make changes to the squad for next season.

The idea appears to be to sign at least two new players apart from the current on-loan stars, Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix.

At the same time, a number of players could be offloaded as well, with sporting director Deco hoping to generate around €200 million from sales.

Centre-backs to be sold in the summer

And now SPORT is reporting that the centre-back department at Barcelona could see at least two or three exits in the summer transfer window.

Unlike some other positions, the centre-back slot is overbooked at the Catalan outfit. As things stand, Barça have Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, Jules Kounde, and Inigo Martinez as the main central defenders.

More recently, academy graduate Pau Cubarsi has also carved out a place for himself in the senior team and is set for a more prominent role next season.

Beyond that, Barcelona will also have two loanees – Eric Garcia and Clement Lenglet – returning from their stints at Girona and Aston Villa, respectively.

And one must also not forget Mikayil Faye who is impressing with Barça Atletic and is attracting interest from elsewhere.

It makes a total of eight options for the two centre-back positions, which is clearly too much, and as such, there will be at least two or three players sold in the summer, the report states.

Of the aforementioned players, Lenglet is pretty much guaranteed to be offloaded, with the Frenchman not a part of the plans moving forward, due to his high wages. His impressive performances at Aston Villa could help Barça attract offers.

Meanwhile, Eric Garcia is enjoying a fine season at Girona and there may be a possibility that the two Catalan clubs reach an agreement for the ex-Man City man’s permanent move.

Araujo is attracting interest from Bayern Munich, but he is considered an untouchable and the club will look to renew his contract.

The likes of Kounde and Christensen would also have suitors, and the latter’s sale could be beneficial for Barcelona considering he joined for free from Chelsea.

Finally, Faye could also be on the move if good offers arrive as he would not be content playing with the reserve team next season.
