Barcelona defender Jules Kounde recently made headlines for his dedication to the team, as reported by AS

According to the outlet, Kounde decided to cut his vacation short, returning to club duties earlier than planned because he was eager to start playing under the new coach Hansi Flick.

Originally, the Frenchman was scheduled to return to pre-season training on August 8, but he chose to come back a week earlier. Interestingly, upon his arrival, it took him just 30 minutes to change and join his teammates on the training field.

It has been suggested that Kounde is well-known for his strong work ethic. The French defender often goes to the gym immediately after matches to continue his training with dumbbell repetitions.

Kounde wants to impress Flick

Now with a new coach in charge, Kounde is determined to maintain his high standards. After France’s elimination from the European Championship, Kounde travelled to Barcelona to meet with Hansi Flick.

He expressed his desire to return to training sooner than planned. While Flick advised him to complete his holiday and return on August 8, Kounde insisted on coming back earlier. Flick, impressed by Kounde’s enthusiasm, eventually agreed.

The defender rejoined the team’s training camp in Annapolis on August 1, effectively cutting his vacation short by almost a week. His quick transition from arrival to training—taking only half an hour—demonstrated his commitment to the team.

This might pay off

This dedication might pay off soon, especially considering Ronald Araujo’s long-term absence due to surgery on his right leg’s femoral biceps tendon.

Araujo’s injury could provide Kounde with the opportunity to return to his preferred position in central defence.

Over the past two years, Kounde has been playing as a right-back with impressive results, even earning a similar role under French national team coach Didier Deschamps.

Kounde’s early return and swift integration into training highlight his professionalism and dedication to Barcelona.

His actions set a positive example for his teammates and reinforced the high standards expected at the club. As the team gears up for the new season, Kounde’s commitment and work ethic could play a crucial role in their success under Hansi Flick’s leadership.
