Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen is on the mend, recovering as expected and is likely to return to training soon, as reported by Jordi Gil in SPORT

It must be noted that the Danish player has not featured for the team since he played 26 minutes against Valencia earlier this season.

His absence has been due to an injury affecting his Achilles tendon, a crucial ligament that connects the calf muscles to the heel bone.

Currently, Barcelona have not released further details about Christensen’s physical condition.

However, it appears that the treatment he has been undergoing for his problems is proving effective. This positive news brings hope that he will be back with the squad shortly.

The financial aspect of Christensen’s return

Interestingly, Christensen’s absence has had unexpected benefits for the club.

Knowing that he would not be available for an extended period, Barcelona informed La Liga about his situation, which allowed them to free up 80% of their wage bill. This financial manoeuvre enabled the club to register Dani Olmo.

In a recent statement, club President Joan Laporta indicated that they are on track to balance the club’s accounts by the end of the year.

He mentioned the potential activation of a financial lever that would allow Barcelona to operate under the 1:1 rule for player registrations.

This move is crucial because it ensures that Olmo’s registration is secure and that there will be no issues preventing him from playing once the new transfer window opens on January 1.

Therefore, once Christensen is fit to return, he will not face any complications regarding his registration.

This is a reassuring sign for both the player and the club, as it highlights the strategic planning involved in managing player contracts and the overall financial health of Barcelona.
