Barcelona returned from their trip to Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla late on Saturday night after defeating Cadiz 1-0 in La Liga.
It was an important win for the Blaugrana considering that Xavi had made wholesale changes to the team keeping an eye on Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League encounter against PSG.
One of those changes saw Jules Kounde, who had put on a starring performance to silence Kylian Mbappe earlier in the week, make way for Hector Fort at right-back.
Kounde did get some minutes against Cadiz, as he came on in the second half to see out the encounter, albeit as a centre-back.
Kounde trains at 4 am in the morning
One of the reasons behind Barcelona’s tremendous improvement in recent weeks has been the sudden change in form of their defensive unit, who have become solid and resolute again.
And Kounde has been one among those to have undergone a major transformation, having seemingly returned to his best level over the past few months.
The Frenchman has been putting in the hard yards to turn things around and his commitment and dedication to the cause were again visible after the Cadiz clash.
Indeed, as reported by SPORT, after Barcelona returned from their game against Cadiz late on Saturday night, Kounde stayed at the club’s training facilities and was involved in a training session as early as 4 am on Sunday morning.
The Frenchman, who did not start against Cadiz and only played 28 minutes, posted a photograph at four in the morning at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper working out in the gym, so as to be in prime shape ahead of the PSG clash.
Kounde was at the Ciutat Esportiva at four in the morning to burn off some energy after not playing in Cadiz. The report from SPORT states that Kounde went back to his home to get some sleep.
However, a few hours later, at 11.30 am, the Frenchman returned to the Ciutat Esportiva to take part in the training session that Xavi carried out to prepare for the match against PSG.
Kounde has been working hard on improving his game, starting from doing post-match sessions with reserves and substitutes instead of just doing recovery training and training as a pivot to improve his handling of the ball.
The results are there for everyone to see.
