In what could be a concerning issue, Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo was taken off at half-time during their game against Celta Vigo.

Araujo, after being rested against Granada due to some discomfort, started against Celta to mark his 100th La Liga appearance for Barça.

The Uruguayan international had a largely solid outing in the first 45 minutes. But right before kickoff after half-time, there was a change made by Xavi Hernandez, with Inigo Martinez coming on to the field instead of Araujo.

While it is not certain as to what prompted the change, that was made right before kickoff, there may be a suspected injury problem with the defender.

As mentioned earlier, Araujo was given a rest last weekend against Granada as he was dealing with some discomfort.

A clearer picture of the situation will emerge after the game when Xavi addresses the press.

But the Uruguayan’s absence has already been felt as Celta Vigo equalised right after the second half started, with Iago Aspas finding the back of the net via a Jules Kounde deflection.
