Jules Kounde is an inspiration to all youngsters who aspire to make it big at Barcelona, for the manner in which the defender has handled his situation at the club is nothing short of commendable.

Despite joining as one of La Liga’s most talented centre-backs, it quickly became clear to the player that there was severe competition for a starting position in his niche.

To the manager’s request, he made the transition to a stand-in right-back and has slowly grown into the role to the point where he is now an undisputed starter for both club and country in the new position.

A year of Kounde

As revealed in a recent report from SPORT, Kounde is close to completing a year without missing a single game for Barcelona. The record not only shows his quality on the field but also his astounding fitness levels.

The last game in which Kounde did not make an appearance for Barcelona was on November 25 last year against Rayo Vallecano.

Since that day, he has played every game in every competition for the Blaugrana including La Liga, the UEFA Champions League, the Spanish Super Cup and even the games against Barbastro and Unionistas in the Copa del Rey.

To complete one year without missing a game, he must make appearances against Crvena Zvezda, Real Sociedad and Celta Vigo after the international break.

So far this season, Kounde has played all 15 of Barcelona’s games and has become indispensable in the right-back position.

The 25-year-old’s chemistry with Lamine Yamal who plays on the same flank is only improving with every passing game.

Earlier this month, the player spoke on the importance of fitness to him and how he hated injuries. His commitment towards his physical preparation, needless to say, is reaping the rewards.

Be it under Xavi Hernandez last season or now with Hansi Flick at the helm, Kounde has made himself an indispensable member of the Barcelona team.
