Barcelona defender would be ‘delighted’ to play with €58 million-rated Spain winger

Nico Williams has recently returned to Bilbao after an extended summer break. All eyes will be on the forward as he makes a crucial decision over his future.

Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are ready to secure his services this summer and have put their respective offers on the table. The onus is now on Nico, on whether or not he leaves Athletic Club.

As Barcelona patiently await Nico’s final decision, the club’s star defender Jules Kounde has recently offered his thoughts on the Spanish international.

Kounde on Nico’s future

In a recent media interaction (h/t SPORT), Kounde expressed his desire to play alongside Nico while heaping praise on the Athletic Club forward.

“Nico is a great player and of course, I would like to have him as a teammate. Let’s see what the club does, but if it can be done, of course, we would be delighted,” said the defender.

Kounde is not the only Barcelona player to make a statement on Nico’s future this summer, as several stars have spoken about the possibility of the forward’s arrival this summer.

Nico’s connection with Lamine Yamal and Pedri has been already well-documented while the player, for his part, is reportedly ‘crazy’ about the idea of playing for Barça.

Nico does have his own share of concerns, though, as far as a move to Barcelona is concerned. That is perhaps why he has been apprehensive about taking the final call on his future.

But with just three weeks left before the transfer window slams shut, Nico, who has a €58 million release clause, must make a call soon and decide between Barcelona and Athletic Club.
