Barcelona defender Jules Kounde has recently shared an inside look at his intense training routine, revealing his commitment to maintaining peak performance on the field.

Kounde, known for his solid defensive abilities and work ethic, explained that he has increased his training to three sessions daily, dedicating around three and a half to four hours each day to honing his fitness and skills.

In an interview with La Vanguardia, Kounde discussed how his training habits have evolved over time. Initially, he trained twice a day, but as he looked for ways to enhance his performance, he decided to add a third session.

“I train three times a day, about three and a half or four hours. And then I do what the world of football demands. Take care of yourself, sleep well, recover,” he began saying.

He elaborated that this additional session is designed to address specific areas he believes need improvement.

Each of these 45-minute sessions takes place before and after his training with Barcelona, allowing him to balance personal training with the team’s requirements.

Kounde is mindful of not overloading himself, carefully managing his workload under professional supervision.

“I used to train only twice, now and three times because I thought I could improve things, optimize. I train at home, they are 45-minute sessions before and after the club’s training. And under his supervision, so as not to overload me.”

For Kounde, football is more than just a job—it is a passion he has pursued since he was young. His approach to training reflects this passion and dedication. He emphasises the importance of proper care, rest, and recovery to sustain his performance.

“Football is a profession, but first and foremost it has been a passion since I was very young. And, as in life, if you dedicate time to something and put your heart into it, it usually goes well,” he explained.

Reflecting on his journey, Kounde admits that he wasn’t initially recognised as an exceptionally talented player in his early days.

However, through hard work and dedication, he has steadily climbed the ranks, eventually earning his place at a prestigious club like Barcelona.

“I was never a super talented player, but I was flying in the lower categories. Things have gone well for me because I have worked hard.”

In addition to discussing his personal growth, Kounde highlighted the emerging talent within Barcelona’s young squad. He noted the remarkable composure and maturity of players like Pau Cubarsi, who demonstrate skills and mental resilience beyond their years.

“Cubarsi’s calmness stands out. In general, they have a lot of maturity inappropriate for their age.”

Kounde is impressed by how these young players handle the pressure, both on and off the pitch.

While they maintain a light-hearted atmosphere in the dressing room, they bring a level of focus and professionalism to their game that Kounde finds promising for the team’s future.

“I am struck by how well they withstand pressure. In the dressing room, they are children, they make noise and they put my head like a bass drum,” he concluded.
