Despite having only played a handful of games under Hansi Flick, an abundance of positives have already been extracted from FC Barcelona’s US pre-season tour.

One major highlight from Barça’s American tour is Sergi Dominguez’s excellent performance as a centre-back. The defender excelled against Manchester City and maintained his high level in the Clasico.

Dominguez has thrived on the tour

Indeed, SPORT has come out to shed light on the youngster’s strong start to the tour. And Owing to his recent strides, he is the favourite to partner with Mbake in Barça Atletic’s defense.

Despite not expecting much game time and traveling mainly to fill out the roster, Dominguez has seized the two opportunities given by Flick, excelling both times with concentration, good positioning, and precise passing.

In the opening game against Manchester City, Sergi Dominguez effectively contained Erling Haaland. To add the cherry on top, the Spaniard created Pau Victor’s opening goal with a superb through ball to Marc Casado.

In the second half against Real Madrid, Dominguez skillfully contained Vinicius. The youngster repeatedly frustrated the Brazilian, preventing him from mustering any threat in transition.

While Barcelona’s back-line is stacked to the brim, Sergi Dominguez’s strong performances have strengthened his case for involvement in the first team.

As of now, it looks likely Flick will again give minutes to the 19-year-old against AC Milan. He aims to close the tour with another strong performance, returning to Barcelona with increased confidence.

Injuries limited him last season under Rafa Marquez, but this preseason hints at a significant rise in his stature within the reserve team. Additionally, he has already proven his skills to Hansi Flick.

Barcelona have no shortage of talent emerging from the youth ranks and Dominguez is promising to be another young trailblazer with a high ceiling.
