While Barcelona have been reaping the rewards of La Masia‘s ability to cultivate talents like clockwork this season, gems existing within the first team are only the tip of the iceberg.

Indeed, it is important to recognize that there are many more talented individuals in the academy, each with their own potential to shine on the big stage.

And one such player is Baba Kourama, who is the brother of former Barcelona player Ilaix Moriba.

Barcelona pleased with Baba’s progress

Now, SPORT have come out to shed light on the youngster’s progress with the youth ranks and how he has won his coaches over with dependable displays.

As per the report, Barcelona are delighted with what the youngster has shown so far and believe he has more scope to keep growing.

Originating from Guinea, Baba used to play barefoot street soccer before signing with Barça in April 2021. He did not make his debut until November 2022, though, due to procedural obstacles and his foreign nationality.

The youngster currently shuffles between the Cadete B and the Cadete A teams and is making a solid impression. Baba’s physical strength enabled him to adjust seamlessly, demonstrating his adaptability to different positions.

The 15-year-old’s versatility is exemplified by the fact that he has been used as a central defender, pivot, or advanced midfielder by David Sanchez.

Barça’s staff is thrilled with Baba’s progress and believes he has a lot more potential, as evidenced by the player’s passing and ability to make crashing runs inside the box.

A humble presence

Despite his familial ties with Ilaix Moriba, who forced an exit from the Catalan giants after refusing to sign a new deal, Baba is not considered the type of player to chase the spotlight and instead is seen as a far more reserved individual.

Coaches and teammates alike have grown to love Baba for his modesty and friendliness off the field.

He is a valued member of the Cadet B and Cadet A teams at La Masia, having gained recognition for his professionalism and flexibility.
