As Bayern Munich continue to struggle to maintain their dominance in German football this season, one can expect multiple star players in Bavaria to face an uncertain summer ahead.

Joshua Kimmich has already been linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena, amid interest from Barcelona and PSG, among others.

Another star player facing an uncertain future at the club is Alphonso Davies. The young left-back has been linked with a move to Real Madrid for a while now.

Davies’ agent held talks with Barcelona

Gerard Romero’s Jijantes FC has offered a rather interesting update on the future of Alphonso Davies.

The report suggests that the defender’s agent was in Madrid this week, which is not surprising considering the links between him and Real Madrid.

The very next day, the left-back’s representative met Barcelona sporting director Deco, presumably regarding a potential move to Catalonia.

This is a significant development coming out of Spain, especially considering the fact that Davies’ contract at Bayern Munich expires in 2025.

The youngster, whose market value stands at €70 million, has appeared quite reluctant to renew his contract. Although Real Madrid have been closely linked with a move for the Canadian international over the past year, it appears Barcelona are ready to try out their luck.

A potential replacement for Balde?

Alphonso Davies’ recent talks with Barcelona can be directly linked to the uncertainty over the future of Alejandro Balde.

In fact, recent reports have indicated that Barça could be willing to offload Balde in the coming summer if they receive a big offer.

Should Barcelona sanction the sale of Balde, the Catalans may have enough capital to compete with Real Madrid in the race to sign Davies.

The left-back position, after all, could prove to be an Achilles heel for Barcelona going forward, if they sell Balde and fail to find a proper replacement.

The coming months, to that end, could prove to be crucial as Davies looks to explore his options and take the next step in his career.
