It is no secret that FC Barcelona’s planning for the summer transfer window is very tightly constrained by the club’s economic situation.

Barcelona need to bring in more money or make multi-million dollar sales in order to be able to go to the market with a certain degree of stability. However, those possibilities are starting to look bleaker by the day.

Barcelona sporting director, Deco, is in favour of trying to sell a player who has a lesser role in the team, but nobody has the intention of leaving, according to the meetings he has been holding with various circles.

Only two signings being considered

As such, SPORT reports that Deco is planning for the summer transfer window with only two new signings on the agenda.

The two signings would be on top of the potential continuity of Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix, both of whom will see their loan deals expire at the end of the season.

Both the players are eager to continue at the club and the Catalans, too, are happy with the Portuguese pair. As such, efforts will be made to prolong their stay while two other new signings will be targeted.

The two positions that the Barcelona sporting director would be eager to strengthen are the midfield pivot and the left wing.

Furthermore, the signings could end up being ‘low-cost’ additions owing to the financial situation at the club.

Deco is clear that the squad is full of quality midfielders and that it is not easy to find a top-level player at a reduced cost to improve what is already there.

As such, it could end up being a quieter summer than usual for Barcelona.
