According to Mundo Deportivo, Raphinha and Ilkay Gundogan have reportedly received lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia, but despite the tempting financial packages, both players are determined to stay at Barcelona, rejecting the idea of a move away from the club.

Barcelona are currently in a situation where generating significant revenue is crucial. The club is open about the fact that a major financial boost would be welcomed, especially if players like Raphinha or Gundogan accepted lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia.

Although both players have made their mark on the team, neither is seen as a crucial component in manager Hansi Flick’s long-term plans.

With Gundogan approaching his 34th birthday on October 24th, and Raphinha turning 28, this could be their last opportunity for a massive contract.

There have been bids for Raphinha

The Catalan giants have already received a substantial offer of €65 million from a Saudi club for Raphinha. Despite this, the Brazilian winger has shown no interest in leaving Barcelona just two years after joining from Leeds United.

There were also rumours linking Raphinha with a move to Newcastle United, but nothing materialised from that speculation. The recent arrival of Dani Olmo at Barcelona has done little to change Raphinha’s stance, as he remains committed to his role in the squad.

He seems to be holding out hope that Barcelona will not bring in any more players for the left-wing position, especially after Nico Williams declined the opportunity to join the club.

What about Gundogan?

On the other hand, Gundogan, who has experience playing in Saudi Arabia and Turkey with Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe, has also dismissed the idea of leaving Barcelona.

During a recent trip to Istanbul, Gundogan made it clear that he has no intention of departing from the club anytime soon

While his exit might not bring in as much as Raphinha’s potential transfer, it would still significantly reduce Barcelona’s wage bill.

For Barcelona, the decision of these players to stay is a double-edged sword. On one hand, their commitment is a testament to the club’s environment and their desire to be part of its future.

On the other hand, accepting these offers could have provided Barcelona with much-needed financial relief, helping to balance the books and potentially bring in fresh talent that aligns more closely with Flick’s vision.
