Barcelona have been on a spree of contract renewals since late January, having tied down players like Ronald Araujo, Pedri, Gavi, Gerard Martin, and Pau Cubarsi to new deals.

Moreover, the Blaugrana also plan to announce the renewals of veteran stars Inigo Martinez and Robert Lewandowski next month.

Talks for the likes of Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Jules Kounde are also expected to take place in the coming weeks while there will be discussions with Frenkie de Jong as well, at the insistence of manager Hansi Flick.

Inaki Pena, Andreas Christensen on their way out?

However, according to SPORT, as of now, no renewal talks have taken place for Inaki Pena and Andreas Christensen, whose contracts expire in 2026, making their departures in the summer transfer window likely.

Pena had been the undisputed starter in goal following Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s injury back in September. However, the La Masia graduate has lost his spot in the team to Wojciech Szczesny since January.

And with Deco hoping to tie down the veteran Pole for one more season, there is unlikely to be room for Pena in the squad. And with only a year left on his deal, the academy product could look for a new adventure.

As for Christensen, the centre-back has played just one match this season, having been sidelined with injury problems.

The Dane is currently behind Pau Cubarsi, Inigo Martinez, Eric Garcia, and Ronald Araujo i the pecking order at the club. Furthermore, the Blaugrana are also looking into the possibility of signing Jonathan Tah in the summer.

All of this could lead to Christensen seeking an exit, with the club likely to be open to offers as his departure would account for pure profit in the books given he was signed for free.
