Ansu Fati was the first of the long list of La Masia talents to explode in recent years. The young winger began life at Barcelona with a bang, but a long-term knee injury and recurrent surgeries snatched his best away from him.

The Spaniard’s decline in physical fitness, form, and confidence ultimately led to his departure from the club.

Fati signed on loan for Brighton and Hove Albion last summer hoping to make a comeback, but his term there has not entirely been a success so far.

Barcelona have a decision to make

With the coming summer transfer window being vital for Barcelona in terms of new signings, sales are inevitable. Players on loan, thus, are amongst the primary names on the administration’s exit list.

As revealed by Alex Pintanel, Fati’s case is delicate on that front. The player left for Brighton hoping to explode, but he has been unable to do so to this point.

Ansu wants to return to Catalonia and link up with his former teammates for next season, but the club does not assure him of a return in the summer. His future, thus, is now uncertain.

Two options

As revealed earlier this week, the administration’s primary idea is to extend Fati’s loan in the Premier League by one more season hoping that he will recover his best version.

After all, he has scored two goals, created one big chance and averages just under a key pass every two games for the English side this season.

While the loan may be Barcelona’s priority, the option of a sale is also not seen with bad eyes in the Catalan capital. If an offer of close to €30 million arrives, the administration will not hesitate to part ways with the La Masia starlet.
