Just a day before Barcelona’s big game against Paris Saint-Germain, the French media came up with a rather bizarre speculation.

They linked Barcelona midfielder Gavi with a move to the French capital, with PSG reportedly keen on signing the Spanish whizkid as part of the club’s plans to reinforce the creative department.

Fabrizio Romano offers clarification

Now, Fabrizio Romano has clarified that there is no truth to Gavi’s links with PSG.

Romano further clarifies that Gavi is happy in Barcelona and wants to continue his development at the club. where he has a contract until 2026.

This also comes on the back of Xavi’s assurance that the youngster will continue to play a key role for the Catalans.

This is not the first time that reports linking Gavi to PSG have surfaced in the French media.

Back in the summer, there were suggestions that Barça were looking to offer Gavi to Ligue 1 champions in a bid to sign Kylian Mbappe – reports that left Gavi and his camp fuming.

What’s next for Gavi?

As mentioned earlier, Gavi is currently recovering from his ACL injury. However, the youngster is expected to be back for the Joan Gamper trophy this summer and everything indicates he will be available since the start of next season.

His contract situation does need to be looked after, though, especially with his deal expiring in the summer of 2026.

Barça will likely soon kickstart talks with Gavi’s agents over a new deal that could see him stay at the club for a long time.

The Catalans are also keen on tying down the future of other young players in the team, including Ronald Araujo and Pedri, whose contracts also expire in 2026.
