Over the past few months, Barcelona have been busy securing the long-term futures of some of the club’s most talented young players.

The likes of Pau Cubarsi, Hector Fort, and Marc Casado have already signed new deals while Marc Bernal and Toni Fernandez have reached agreements over their renewals.

The Catalans are still working to tie down more young prospects like Guille Fernandez as well as Pau Prim.

No agreement with Pau Prim

Mundo Deportivo has now come forward with an update on Barcelona’s efforts to renew the contract of Pau Prim.

As per the report, negotiations between the two parties have encountered some hurdles and there are still some differences leading to an agreement not being finalised.

Prim, 18, is one of the most highly-rated young midfielders coming through at La Masia. The youngster was promoted to the Juvenil A side last year but also featured for Barça Atletic whenever required, while also training with the senior team under Xavi on occasions.

Prim’s current contract with Barcelona expires in 2025 and after he turned 18 earlier this year, the club began talks over a new five-year deal for the midfield prodigy.

But there are still some differences between the positions of the two parties, so much so that the youngster, who was expected to do pre-season under new first-team coach Hansi Flick, is not doing so.

The positive news from the situation is that Prim is certain about wanting to stay and continue at Barcelona beyond 2025 and the club also see him as an asset for the future.

As such, the expectation is that the two parties will eventually resolve the differences that exist and reach an agreement to extend the 18-year-old’s contract in the near future.
