As Barcelona continue to go through a testing period financially, they are always on the lookout for ways to generate revenue and boost up their income.
The Blaugrana have pinned great hopes on their stadium, Spotify Camp Nou, to help bring in fresh cash into the coffers once it is fully renovated and operational.
Barça are playing at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Montjuic this season and plan on returning to Camp Nou in November this year, with the stadium expected to be operating at 60% capacity.
Even though the Blaugrana’s hallowed home ground is unlikely to be fully operation until late next year, the club are expecting to generate big revenue from the facilities over the upcoming two summers.
Barcelona expecting to rake in €160 million through VIP boxes
Indeed, as per Catalunya Radio, Barcelona are hoping to rake in as much as €160 million over the next two summers through the lease of the VIP boxes at the new Spotify Camp Nou.
According to the report, the new Camp Nou will have 115 VIP boxes in total. Of those, 20 will be VVIP Suites and the remaining 95 will be VIP Boxes.
The idea of the club is to keep 62 boxes aside for businesses and corporate use while the remaining 53 will be for one-off engagements, more exclusive spaces with a capacity for twelve people.
Despite the fact that the new Camp Nou will not open its doors fully at least until November 2025, Barcelona have already put those 62 corporate boxes up for sale for the next ten years, with many already committed to acquiring them.
The sale of these 62 boxes will bring a very important economic injection for the next financial year, as one of the conditions for accessing them is to make the payment of the ten years in two instalments – the first payment of 60 per cent on 1 July and the other 40 per cent in the summer of 2025.
Bearing in mind that the total value of these 62 VIP boxes is €160 million for the next ten years, this means that the club will receive €100 million this summer and another €60 million next summer.
However, the money raised will be used to finance the continued renovation of the stadium, the report adds.
