With each passing day, Barcelona midfield sensation Gavi is inching closer and closer to making his comeback after a lengthy injury layoff that has lasted close to a year.
The 20-year-old La Masia gem has been out of action since November last year after suffering an ACL injury and has worked very hard on his rehabilitation over the past 11 months.
Gavi made his return to full training in September and has been working his way back to full fitness, even as Barcelona approach his comeback with great precaution to avoid any unnecessary risks.
Gavi very close to a comeback
Now, journalist Sique Rodriguez reports that Gavi’s return is only a matter of days away, with the midfielder eyeing the game against Sevilla to make his comeback.
This update comes after the Barcelona midfielder participated in a mini-training match at Ciutat Esportiva today along with players from the Barça Atletic squad and those who have not been called up for their national team matches.
Gavi ended up playing the full game which went on for about 40-45 minutes.
Having gotten some minutes under his belt, even if it was in a training game, Gavi is eager to make it to the squad for the game against Sevilla after the international break.
Barça will be locking horns with the Andalusian outfit on Sunday, October 20, at the Montjuic Stadium.
Gavi returning then will be a huge boost for the Catalans, more so considering that the next two matches see them face off against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League and La Liga, respectively.
As mentioned earlier, though, there will be no risks taken with Gavi’s comeback and he will be eased back into action to avoid any chances of relapse.
