Alex Valle was one of the Barcelona youngsters who made a positive impression during the club’s pre-season tour of the USA.

Even though he was deployed out of position at right-back, the 20-year-old left-back excelled and managed to win over manager Hansi Flick.

As such, it has given way to rumours that Barcelona will offer him a renewal, with his contract expiring in 2025 and his release clause dropping to €3 million from August 1.

Future not guaranteed

However, according to Toni Juanmarti of SPORT, Alex Valle’s future at Barcelona is still an open subject as his continuity is not necessarily guaranteed.

As per the report, the 20-year-old left-back, who spent the last season away on loan at UD Levante in the second division, has several important suitors this summer.

While Valle has indeed made an impression on manager Hansi Flick, what could be an issue in his continuity is that the youngster will command a first-team contract and salary if he is renewed by the Catalans.

Given that Barcelona are already struggling to accommodate players in their limited salary cap, Valle’s registration as a first-team player might become an issue, especially considering that there are other important priorities.

As such, the young left-back’s future at Barcelona is far from certain and a departure cannot be ruled out if an interesting offer comes along.

Even if he stays, Valle would be behind Alejandro Balde and possibly even Gerard Martin in his natural left-back position.

On the right-hand side, Jules Kounde, Joao Cancelo (if re-signed) and Hector Fort would be ahead of him as well. So, it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds in the days to come.
