Barcelona’s financial situation remains a significant challenge as the club work intensively on renewing contracts, with 11 players’ deals expiring in 2026.
The club’s salary cap limitations mean it may be impossible to extend all these contracts, forcing sporting director Deco and coach Hansi Flick to make tough decisions.
Starting in November, Barcelona will begin finalizing renewal plans to avoid losing key assets for free, but the financial pressure could lead to inevitable departures.
Lamine Yamal: A priority renewal
According to SPORT, Barcelona have identified three players, in particular, who they would like to prioritise, as far as the renewals are concerned.
One of them is Lamine Yamal, whose current contract ends in 2026. However, the club already have an agreement in place to extend his deal until 2030, with a €1 billion release clause ensuring that the young talent stays at the club.
On this issue, there is absolute peace of mind at Barcelona, as he was well secured in a tough negotiation with his agent, Jorge Mendes.
Yamal is very happy at Barça and does not plan to listen to offers. PSG were interested in him, but his future is at the Catalan club, where he aims to become the best player in the world.
Barcelona’s commitment to renew the contract of Yamal ahead of other players is enough to suggest that the club are fully betting on the youngster to become the face of the attack in the years to come.
One of the best in the world
Thanks to his performances this year, Yamal has already established himself as one of Barcelona’s key players, with many even comparing him to Lionel Messi.
Yamal is also tipped to win the upcoming Golden Boy award despite strong competition from Joao Neves. In fact, it may only be a matter of time before the Spaniard gets considered for the prestigious Ballon d’Or as well.
Until then, Barcelona are expected to fully back the progress of the young forward, who certainly has the ability to become the club’s biggest face in the near future.
Sealing a renewal, to that end, could go a long way in ensuring the player’s long-term future at Camp Nou.
