With just a few months remaining until the season comes to an end, Barcelona are in constant search of a new manager, who can replace Xavi Hernandez in the summer.

The club have been linked with a series of German coaches, including the likes of Thomas Tuchel, Hansi Flick, and Jurgen Klopp.

But the club are also considering non-German options, with Roberto De Zerbi said to be a favourite pick.

Barcelona rate de Zerbi highly

A recent report from Adrian Sanchez has reiterated that Barcelona do indeed rate De Zerbi quite highly. They prefer the Italian coach particularly because of his system.

It is worth noting that De Zerbi often receives praise from none other than Pep Guardiola, due to his tactical nous and understanding of the game.

During his time at Brighton, De Zerbi has been quite successful in giving the team a proper identity. He has also been able to nurture multiple young talents, which goes hand in hand with Barcelona’s philosophy.

Doubts growing about De Zerbi

Even though Barcelona do rate De Zerbi quite highly, doubts are growing over the coach’s ‘aura’ to be ready for a top club.

The Italian has managed a series of clubs during his managerial career. However, he is yet to coach any of the European giants, meaning the Barcelona assignment could be a challenging transition for the 44-year-old.

In addition, Barcelona may have problems with De Zerbi’s release clause, which is said to be valued at around €10-15 million.

Only time will tell how Barça approach this matter. But as things stand, other coaches like Flick and Tuchel do appear to be ahead of De Zerb in the club’s wishlist this summer.
