Barcelona are desperate to return to financial normalcy by the end of this season in an attempt to compete for top targets in transfer windows.
However, it seems the only way to do that is by offloading players which will earn them a suitcase of money. Internally, the club are hoping to raise at least €100 million through sales in the summer.
As such, rumours of key players leaving the club have been flooding the press.
Pedri, for example, has picked up another serious injury and is potentially out for the rest of the season. Concerned with his serious physical concerns, Barcelona could potentially offload him for a big amount in the summer, at least if rumours are to believed.
Gavi, meanwhile, is on the radar of PSG, and Frenkie de Jong is attracting interest from several top clubs, including PSG, Manchester United, and Chelsea, among a few more.
Barcelona have labeled a lot of these top players as untouchable. Ronald Araujo is also on this list, but according to RAC1, the club have doubts about his continuity.
Barça are concerned whether Araujo will want to continue beyond this season, largely due to their sporting competitiveness — or the lack thereof.
Bayern Munich are one of the clubs that have been trailing Araujo desperately, and had even attempted to sign him in the winter market. They are ready to pursue him in the summer, as well.
Araujo is, however, armed with a €1 billion release clause, and will require at least a €100 million bid to even get Barcelona’s attention.
Further, the Catalans even want to extend his contract beyond 2025 and increase his salary. They consider him as one of the key pillars of their project the future captain of the team.
Araujo also made sure to comfort Barcelona fans worried about his future recently, said:
“In all markets there is talk of transfers. But I’m focused on the club, I’m happy. And I always give my best when it’s my turn to defend this shirt.”
Araujo is suspended for the Mallorca clash on the weekend, but will almost definitely be a part of the team that will take on Napoli in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16.
