Things are seemingly moving quite fast as far as Barcelona’s pursuit of priority target Nico Williams is concerned.

Indeed, the Blaugrana sporting director, Deco, met the 22-year-old Athletic Club’s agent earlier this week during which a long-term contract proposal was put forward.

Now, Barcelona are awaiting a response from the Spanish international with the expectation being that the reply will be a positive one and that it will arrive fairly quickly.

Ready to move

Now, SPORT reports that Barcelona have everything ready and in place to make the payment to activate Nico Williams’ €58 million release as soon as they receive the go-ahead from the player.

Indeed, Barça are absolutely optimistic that they will be able to complete the signing of the Athletic winger within days.

The Blaugrana have everything ready to pay the player’s €58 million termination clause once a full agreement has been reached with the player for the next five seasons.

Nico wanted guarantees that he could be registered and Barça believe that there would be no problems for him to be able to play the first league game in August.

The Catalan giants are only waiting for the full OK from the Spaniard and his entourage, which should arrive next week and they have prepared everything to make the payment.

There will be no negotiation with Athletic Club and only the communication of the payment of the clause.

Both entities also want to close this issue as soon as possible in order to be able to continue with the planning of the squad.

There could be concrete progress by next week, with there being a possibility that the operation is closed before Barcelona’s US tour.
