There will be some changes made to the Barcelona squad over the summer, although much of the market strategy will be dictated by the club’s financial situation and Fair Play issues.
There are likely to be a few big sales made in order to boost up revenue which could help the club reach the 1:1 rule.
Some big names like Frenkie de Jong, Ronald Araujo, and Jules Kounde, among others, have been touted as possible sacrificial lambs in the summer.
Barcelona do not intend to sell Andreas Christensen
A new pivot midfielder is a top priority for Barcelona as they seek to address what has been a problematic position since Sergio Busquets’ exit last summer.
While that may be the case, Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona have no plans to sell Andreas Christensen, the centre-back who has filled as the pivot midfielder over the past couple of months.
Christensen, 28, has been a solid addition to the Barça ranks since his arrival on a free transfer in 2022.
The Danish international played a key role in the team’s La Liga triumph last season and has once again delivered this season, be it as a centre-back or as a makeshift pivot midfielder, where he has played since late January.
Barcelona see value in Christensen and as such, there are no plans to get rid of him in the summer as things stand.
However, the stance might change if a big offer were to arrive as any fee received for Christensen would be written down as full profit in the books, considering he was signed for free.
But for now, the Catalan giants have no intentions of offloading the former Chelsea defender, while the player himself is happy at the club and is not thinking of an exit.
