Barcelona’s ongoing redemption arc under Hansi Flick has forced the club to re-look at some of the contracts of their younger players – the future of the club.

The Catalans are currently on a renewal spree, having recently renewed the contracts of players such as Fermin Lopez and Marc Bernal.

Barcelona have plans to extend the contracts of more young players – a list that includes the two midfield gems Pedri and Gavi.

Optimism surrounding Pedri’s renewal

According to SPORT, there is growing optimism surrounding Barcelona’s negotiations with both Pedri and Gavi’s contract renewals with there being hope of completing the agreements before the end of 2024.

Barcelona have been in active discussions with Pedri’s camp in recent weeks and are optimistic about securing a long-term contract before the end of 2024.

The club are looking to extend his deal until 2029 or potentially 2030, solidifying his future as a core part of the project.

Despite fierce competition in midfield, Pedri remains indispensable under Hansi Flick. His performance levels have soared this season, with the player finally overcoming his past physical setbacks.

As per the report, Pedri is set to join the upper echelon of Barça’s salary scale. The club are confident that the operation is mature enough and anticipates a successful conclusion shortly.

What about Gavi’s renewal?

Gavi’s situation has progressed more cautiously. The young midfielder prioritized his full recovery from a serious knee injury before engaging in renewal talks.

Now fit and poised for more game time after the international break, Gavi is ready to ramp up his involvement.

Talks with Gavi’s entourage have started, and the club is equally hopeful of finalizing his extension. There were prior salary commitments made to him, and Barça are determined to honour these promises.

With Gavi’s deep-rooted desire to stay at Barcelona, negotiations are expected to conclude without significant hurdles.

If all goes well, his renewal should also be completed before the end of the year.
