Barcelona reached a verbal agreement with both Dani Olmo and RB Leipzig over the transfer of the Spanish attacker earlier today.

With Deco’s trip to Germany successful, the player is already en route to Barcelona and will arrive later today to complete the formalities.

While the deal is not official yet, word has it that the agreement involves a €55 million fixed payment with an additional €7 million in difficult add-ons.

The prerequisite step

While Olmo’s transfer is one step away from being completed on paper, the player must first undergo the traditional pre-transfer medical checkup to ensure he is in optimal condition ahead of the move.

As reported by AS, Olmo will undergo an exhaustive medical examination on Thursday in Barcelona before signing his contract as a new Blaugrana.

While the medical is usually a formality that is easily passed, extra caution is being exercised for Olmo as Barcelona is well aware of the player’s injury history.

The Spaniard underwent surgery six months ago on his left shoulder, and his right knee has been an area of concern throughout his career due to recurring injuries.

Thus, they will likely be under focus during the exam, especially the shoulder injury which the club feel is ‘complicated’ as the player missed close to two months of action because of it.

Barcelona believes that Olmo will pass the tests without many hurdles and can be presented as a new player as early as this week.

If everything goes to plan, he will sign his contract immediately after his medical and join training as early as Saturday.

The plan is for him to be available for the Joan Gamper clash, although it might be difficult considering he has not trained at all since the Euros.
