Barcelona’s contractual relationship with Nike has been in the news for quite some time now, with reports of a fractured relationship between the two entities.
Barça receive a fee of around €105 million in fixed income every year from Nike, with €50 million through additional bonuses.
However, Barcelona are not happy with the figures, which has led to speculation over a potential agreement with Puma.
Barcelona in advanced negotiation with Puma
Now, in a major development, it appears Barcelona are in advanced talks with Puma, who are serious about the deal.
This is according to Diario SPORT, which suggests that Puma are willing to offer Barça an annual payout of €200 million, which can reach up to €300 million.

The English club earn around €160 million per year. Real Madrid are second, thanks to their relationship with Adidas.
How can Barça terminate the Nike contract
However, a major hurdle for Puma and Barcelona, in their bid to reach an agreement, is Barça’s existing contract with Nike which does not expire until 2028.
With that in mind, Barcelona, right now, have two options. The first option is Barcelona informing Nike about their intention to terminate the contract with Nike.
Nike, in that scenario, would receive a two-year grace period, in which the existing contract would still stand. Once this period is over, Barcelona would not even have to pay a penny to Nike and would be free to sign a new contract with Puma.
However, if Barcelona want to terminate the contract immediately, they would have to pay Nike something called the ‘lost profit’ amount.
As per the management estimates, that figure could reach around €20-25 million, which, in hindsight, is not much. However, before this amount is paid, Barcelona and Nike would have to enter a legal dispute.
