Over the last decade or so, Barcelona have become rather infamous for not being able to muster up decent sales for their players. Be that timely departures, like Real Madrid do, or getting decent transfer fees, like Atletico Madrid.

Philippe Coutinho, for example, was brought in for a record €140 million, and sold for around €20 million. Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele, too, arrived for a total of €250 million and were sold for a total of €90 million.

However, over the last couples of windows, Barcelona have been more careful with their exit strategies.

While they have not been able to muster up big-money sales, it seems they were more than aware of the potential of the players who were leaving.

Therefore, Barcelona decided to include sell-on clauses in a lot of their contracts, which would earn them part of any sale in the future, including Mika Marmol and Jean-Claire Todibo, both of whom are attracting eyes.

One of those players could be on the move this summer.

Premier League pairing interested in Trincao

According to a report published by BILD, as relayed by SPORT, two Premier League teams are interested in signing former Barcelona player Francisco Trincao in the summer, currently at Sporting CP.

Bayer Leverkusen are also reportedly in for his signature, with Xabi Alonso keeping tabs on him.

Barcelona have retained 50% of his rights, which means they will earn half of whatever transfer fee Sporting get.

While the names of the English sides has not been revealed, the report states that Liverpool could be one of them if Ruben Amorim chooses to join Liverpool as their new coach.

Barcelona had bought Trincao from Sporting Braga for around €30 million in 2020. He joined Sporting after this Catalan tenure did not work out for €10 million in total including initial loan fees.

Important for Amorim

Trincao has slowly become a permanent fixture in Ruben Amorim’s Sporting side, and has racked up six goals and four assists this season. The coach really likes the player and could convince Liverpool to sign him as part of his plans.

And while it is mere speculation at this point, Sporting could demand up to €30-40 million for his services, given that they will only get to keep half of it. €15-20 million will go a long way for Barcelona, who are in a delicate financial situation.
