With the season in its final phase, FC Barcelona have shifted their focus towards building the squad for the next campaign.

As part of their plans, Barça are working on renewing several players’ contracts, both from the first-team setup and the youth academy.

Pau Cubarsi’s renewal was confirmed yesterday while talks are proceeding with other youngsters like Hector Fort and Marc Guiu, while efforts will be made to tie down established stars like Pedri as well.

Amidst all this, another young talent from Barcelona whose future needs to be addressed is Marc Casado, given that his current contract expires this year.

Renewal talks in progress

As per Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are in negotiations with Marc Casado over a new contract that could run until 2027 or even longer.

The young pivot midfielder, who happens to be the captain of Barça Atletic, has been in and around the senior team for a while now but has not been given an extended run in the side by Xavi.

Despite that, Barcelona remain convinced about Casado’s capabilities and are betting on his continuity at the club.

The midfielder’s current deal expires at the end of the season but the Catalans have an option to extend it by another year until 2025.

However, the Blaugrana have opted for fresh negotiations over a completely new deal that would likely run until 2027 with an option for another year.

Casado, for now, is completely focused on guiding Barça Atletic to promotion to La Liga 2 and has left the contract negotiations to his representatives.

Talks have been progressing at a good pace since starting in mid-April, but there is no date set for an agreement to be finalised.
