With the season’s final international break coming to a close this midweek, FC Barcelona are set to resume their campaign this weekend as they take on Las Palmas.

It is a must-win game for Barcelona if they are to maintain pressure on Real Madrid at the top of the league table. Although the Catalans are trailing Los Blancos by eight points, they still have an opportunity to mount a late title challenge.

One Barcelona player who will be in focus heading into this game is Joao Felix, one of many players facing an uncertain future at Camp Nou.

Felix is expected to start against the Canaries, as Xavi looks to rotate his squad ahead of next month’s Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.

The report adds that Felix must prove himself against Las Palmas, especially with Ferran Torres coming back from injury.

Future at stake for Felix

In addition to his place in the first team, Joao Felix also has his future at stake as Barcelona approaches the Las Palmas game.

The Portuguese international will keep in mind the recent statements of Deco and Joan Laporta this week when they said the club are open to keeping him for next season.

Although Felix is not among Xavi’s favourites in attack, he could still build a place for him next season under the new coach by putting up strong performances during the final phase of the campaign.

That phase of performances could start this weekend against Las Palmas, a side known for their defensive solidity.
