Currently recovering from his injury, there is much excitement in Barcelona over the return of young midfielder Pedri.
Although he might not be risked for the upcoming Champions League game against Paris Saint-Germain, the youngster could be an option for the second leg as well as the upcoming El Clasico on April 21.
In light of Pedri’s impending return from injury, Barça are already looking to tie the player down to a new long-term contract.
Barcelona plan Pedri’s renewal
According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are ready to hand Pedri a new deal as they consider him vital to the club’s project.
Pedri’s current deal at Camp Nou expires in 2026. Barça, though, want to keep him for much longer and see him as someone who can play a central role in the club’s transition.

Meeting to be held soon
Barcelona have not made any official approach yet. But the club’s plan is to hold talks with the player’s representative once he gets some respite from his fitness woes and builds some momentum.
Pedri, for his part, is completely focused on regaining his fitness. After another injury at San Mames five weeks ago, the youngster has had enough and is keen on avoiding another setback for the foreseeable future.
Pedri, though, is not the only player Barcelona are keen on extending. The club are also planning to nail down the long-term future of Ronald Araujo, especially amid interest from Ronald Araujo.
In the coming weeks, we can expect the Blaugrana to make a few moves in their bid to extend the contracts of these two individuals.
