Over the last few years, no club has produced quite so many young talents with immense potential as Barcelona. This includes young players who joined and did/are doing brilliantly, and also La Masia graduates.

Ronald Araujo, for example, is among the best players in his position in the world, while Pedri and Gavi won back-to-back Golden Boy awards. Alejandro Balde broke into the first team last year, and was among the top left-backs in Europe.

However, in a state of deep financial crisis, Barcelona have had to over-rely on these players.

Pedri, for example, played over 3,500 minutes for the club during his debut season as an 18-year-old and also participated in the World Cup qualifiers for Spain. He then went on to play pretty much every games in the Euros, and then the Olympics, as well.

The absurd about games he ended up playing is costing him minutes now, with recurring injuries plaguing his career. Similarly, Gavi tore his ACL while playing for Spain in November, ruling him out for the rest of the season.

And while there is little Barcelona can do in this situation, where the young players are also some of the best not only at the club, but across Europe in their position. They want to take other measures to prevent this, though.

As per a report by Que T’hi Jugues, Barcelona have already told the RFEF that they do not want any of their young players to participate in the upcoming European Championship in Germany and nor the Olympics in Paris later.

This will likely include Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi, with the former already having received his senior debut for Spain. The latter is reportedly on the verge of getting called up for this month’s friendlies, too.

Currently 16 and 17, respectively, Yamal and Cubarsi have been a revelation for Barcelona, and have already started collecting Man of the Match awards in big games, as well.

There is a slight chance that this can damage relations not only with the Spanish Federation, but also with the players themselves, who must be dreaming of playing at the biggest stage with their country.

However, still teenagers, both of these players will have ample chances to prove themselves in big competitions if their career trajectory continues on this path.
