With the international break almost out of the way, FC Barcelona will return to action this weekend when they take on local rivals Girona in the Catalan derby.

Ahead of the clash at Estadi Montilivi, the Blaugrana seem to have received a welcome injury boost.

Ansu Fati back in group training

Indeed, according to journalist Victor Navarro, Barcelona forward Ansu Fati has returned to group training today providing Hansi Flick & co. a boost heading into the weekend encounter.

Fati, 21, suffered a foot injury in pre-season training after having returned from his disappointing loan spell at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Prior to getting injured, though, the La Masia forward had been making positive strides under the new coaching staff led by Flick.

The Spanish international was even being tried out as an option for the centre-forward role by the manager before his progress was halted by yet another injury.

However, Flick & co. continued to have faith in the young attacker who has been working hard behind the scenes to get back to full fitness.

Having started individual work over the past week, Fati is now cleared to be fit enough to do part of the group training session today.

As such, it is very much expected that the La Masia ace will be ready to make his return when Barcelona take on Girona later this week.

This comes as a positive development for Barcelona who have been rocked by injuries early in the season. Fati’s availability provides Flick with an added option in the No. 9 position and on the left flank.
