While Barcelona midfielder Pedri’s talent and quality are undoubted, his fitness problems are starting to become a bit of a concern.

Ever since he played 70+ games for club and country during the 2020/21 season, the 21-year-old has become susceptible to injuries and has been unable to go through a full campaign without any fitness issues.

Earlier this month, Pedri suffered yet another injury – his third of the season – which has put him on the sidelines for more than a month.

While it was suspected initially that he might not play again this season, it is now expected that the Spanish international could return in time for the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal second leg against PSG next month.

Pedri provides update on recovery

Recently, Pedri took to The Residency app where he answered questions from the fans while providing updates on his recovery and possible return.

Discussing how his recovery from the latest injury setback is going, the 21-year-old midfielder said:

“Everything is going well for now. Apart from the recovery and gym work, I’m taking care of my diet, removing the things that don’t agree with me, and I’m also continuing to do pilates and hyperbaric chamber.”

On his possible return date, Pedri added: “As soon as possible, but without setting a date or a specific match. I want to be at my best and enjoy the most important part of the season with my teammates… because there are some great games coming up.”

When asked by a fan if he hoped to make it back in time for the Euros, Pedri replied: “And in the final part of the League and the Champions League, too.”

During the interaction, Pedri also responded to a question about what he thought about teenage prodigy Lamine Yamal, saying: “A top player and a humble lad.”
