Barcelona are carefully monitoring the progress of Francisco Trincao, who is experiencing a resurgence in his form at Sporting CP, reports Jordi Gil through SPORT

After a few challenging years, including a mixed season at Wolverhampton and an initial period of adjustment back in Lisbon, the Portuguese winger is beginning to showcase the talent that once caught Barcelona’s eye.

This turnaround is promising for Barça, especially since the club made provisions in his transfer deal with Sporting that could prove financially beneficial.

Barcelona have rights

Currently, Trincao has contributed significantly at Sporting, with 7 assists and 3 goals under his belt this season.

His resurgence in performance not only benefits his current club but also has potentially positive implications for Barcelona, as the Catalan side retained a clause entitling them to 50% of any future transfer fee Sporting might receive for him.

Additionally, Barça hold an option to re-sign Trincao for €20 million, a reasonable sum considering the recent upward trend in his form.

Trincao initially joined Barcelona from Braga, where his skills as a promising young winger made him an exciting prospect. However, he struggled to make a lasting impact in his single season, which led to a loan move to Wolverhampton.

Unfortunately, his time in the Premier League did not bring the expected breakthrough, prompting his transfer to Sporting in Portugal.

Barcelona are optimistic

Now in his third season since returning to Lisbon, Trincao appears to be rediscovering his confidence and style of play, positioning himself as a potentially valuable asset in the upcoming transfer window.

Barcelona remain optimistic about his trajectory and sees a potential future transfer as a strategic opportunity. Should Sporting decide to sell him, Barça stand to gain from any transfer, potentially adding a significant amount to their funds.

Recently, Trincao stood out in Sporting’s match against Estrela de Amadora, providing two assists and further demonstrating his newfound consistency.

This steady improvement has raised Barcelona’s hopes that Trincao could be primed for a profitable transfer, marking a potential win-win scenario for both clubs in the near future.
