With Marcos Alonso set to bid goodbye to FC Barcelona at the end of the season, the club will need to find a new backup for Alejandro Balde for the future.

The La Masia graduate has the first-choice spot nailed on and will reclaim it from Joao Cancelo once he returns from injury. As for Cancelo, he will move back to his regular spot at right-back, provided he continues at the club beyond this season.

One name that has been touted for the role is Barcelona youngster Alex Valle, currently on loan at UD Levante.

The 19-year-old had a good run at Levante until recently when an injury and a change in management started eating into his game-time.

It has been suggested that Valle has a strong chance of earning a first-team spot at Barcelona next season.

Las Palmas interested in Alex Valle

Now, though, a fresh report from Mundo Deportivo suggests that Las Palmas have taken an interest in signing Alex Valle from Barcelona.

Valle has not made his official senior debut for Barça but has played in a couple of friendly matches, including one in the pre-season tour of the USA last year in 2023.

At Levante, he has featured in 23 matches in all competitions, and it appears that he has been able to impress Las Palmas, who are coached by former Barça B head coach Garcia Pimienta.

The Canary Islanders could be in need of a new left-back as Sergi Cardona’s contract expires at the end of the season.

Interestingly, Cardona had been linked with a move to Barcelona, but the Catalans have cooled off their interest in the left-back.

Sale not ruled out

Las Palmas have their eyes on Alex Valle now, possibly as a replacement for Sergi Cardona. And the report states that Barcelona are not ruling out a sale of the 19-year-old.

It is no secret that the Blaugrana’s financial situation is unhealthy and any income would be welcome. As such, the door is open for Valle to be offloaded in the summer, with his contract expiring next year.
