It is no secret that Barcelona are actively searching the market, exploring every possibility to strengthen their squad.

They have been linked with several stars already, but interestingly, they remain the only team in Spain’s top flight to have signed a player this summer.

The main challenge for the Blaugrana has consistently been their troubled finances and managing their wage bill.

Over the past few years, the team from Catalonia has taken significant steps to accommodate players, and this summer is proving to be no different.

Currently, Barcelona’s primary focus is on boosting their attacking options, with Nico Williams and Dani Olmo being their top targets

However, the club is struggling to meet the demands of their respective teams, and if this trend continues, Barcelona might find themselves heading into the 2024/25 season without any new additions.

With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at how the team’s structure might shape up during Hansi Flick’s debut season as the manager.

Defence

In goal, the ever-reliable Marc-Andre ter Stegen will undoubtedly maintain his position. While there is competition from Inaki Pena, the experience and skill of the German international are expected to keep him as the first choice.

In defence, things get a bit more complex. With no definitive update on Joao Cancelo’s situation, it seems likely that Jules Kounde will continue to serve as the team’s right-back.

Additionally, with Ronald Araujo out due to injury until December, he will still be the preferred choice upon his return, partnering with Pau Cubarsi

Until Araujo’s return, Andreas Christensen is expected to step up and fulfil those duties. Lastly, Alejandro Balde is set to command the left side of the defence, as previously reported.

Midfield and Attack

Moving to the midfield, veteran Ilkay Gundogan is likely to pair with Frenkie de Jong and Pedri. The trio is expected to dominate the central area, provided they remain fit and available for selection.

However, the midfield dynamics could change once Gavi regains match fitness, and a promising Fermin Lopez will continue to push for a place in the lineup.

Lastly, the attack appears to be quite straightforward. Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal are set to lead the charge. If Barcelona fails to secure any reinforcements, Raphinha will maintain his spot in the starting XI, adding his flair and skill to the attacking lineup.
