Barcelona restarted their UEFA Champions League campaign last night with a 1-1 draw against Napoli, in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie.

Robert Lewandowski had broken the deadlock around the hour mark, but Barça were not able to contain the Napoli frontline, ultimately succumbing to an equaliser from Victor Osimhen in the 75th minute.

The result means Barcelona must secure a victory in the second leg at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys if they are to qualify for the quarterfinals.

Barça confident of qualification

A recent report from Roger Torello of Mundo Deportivo highlights that the Barcelona dressing room remains upbeat about their chances of qualifying for the next round of UCL.

Although Barcelona’s draw with Napoli in the first leg left a bittersweet feeling among fans, especially after the club dominated for the major part of the game, there is a feeling that the team has what it takes to beat Napoli in the second leg.

The Barcelona players are particularly banking on the support of fans in the home leg to act as extra support for the team.

With just a win required to go through, it is apparent that Barcelona must proceed with caution and try not to concede any goals.

Barcelona’s form at home this season has not been particularly extraordinary. But they have scored more goals than they do away from home. At the same time, they have also conceded more goals.

In fact, considering Barça’s record at Montjuic this season, it won’t be surprising to witness a goalscoring affair between these two parties.

Barcelona take on Napoli in the second leg on March 12.
