Over the past few weeks, there has been a lot of chatter surrounding Ronald Araujo and his future at Barcelona, with Bayern Munich sniffing around.
The Bundesliga champions have made the Barça captain their top target for the summer transfer window and are prepared to throw big money at his signing while also offering him a hefty contract.
Given the fact that Barcelona need to make some important sales, the speculations about Araujo, along with a certain Frenkie de Jong, have been doing the rounds constantly.
Araujo to stay put
Earlier today, Araujo’s agents, Edmundo Kabchi and Edoardo Crnjar, arrived in Barcelona to meet with the player and discuss his renewal with the Catalans as well as the other offers he had on the table.
Now, Jijantes FC has brought forward an update regarding the situation, claiming that Araujo’s representatives held a meeting with Barcelona sporting director Deco, that lasted for around three hours.
During the meeting, the Uruguayan international’s contract renewal was the main topic of discussion, although the name of Barça managerial target, Roberto De Zerbi, was also breached, albeit briefly.
Moving back to Araujo, his agents assured Deco that the defender is happy at the club and wishes to fulfil his contract that runs for two more years until the summer of 2026.
Araujo has always maintained that he is happy and focused at Barcelona and the same message has seemingly been conveyed by his agents to Deco during today’s meeting.
As for his renewal, the report does not mention if there was any progress on that front, although the Catalans are eager to extend his contract with a better pay packet.
For now, though, Barcelona fans can relax with the information that Araujo is happy and not considering an exit in the summer.
