Barcelona make no progress with 25-year-old Bundesliga target

While Barcelona more often than not benefit from their talented academy graduates by employing them in the first team, many bright prospects also slip through the cracks.

In search of more minutes, Dani Olmo was one of Barcelona’s young players to leave the Catalan outfit in 2014.

Olmo took an interesting career path, joining Dinamo Zagreb before taking his talents RB Leipzig, where he presently plies his trade.

Owing to his exceptional displays in Germany as well as the Spanish national team, talk of him reuniting with his boyhood club has been doing the rounds, with his €60 million release clause coming into effect during the summer transfer window.

Olmo’s case is quite

Despite Barça’s longstanding interest in Olmo, Matteo Moretto (h/t FCB World) has come out to report that Dani Olmo’s case is quiet.

The 25-year-old’s agents are trying to move things along, and clubs are interested, but the talks have not yet progressed.

Barcelona spoke with his agent last week, but he also represents Barcelona Atletic defender Mika Faye.

And there is a strong possibility that those discussions were largely related to Faye’s future, who has no shortage of suitors.

Barcelona will have to improve finances to sign Olmo

Indeed, it has been reported that Barça will not be able to pursue Olmo this summer unless they go back to the 1:1 formula.

Barcelona must undergo a significant revamp this summer to move back to the 1:1 rule because they are currently under the 3:1 scheme.

Time will tell whether the Blaugranes can execute enough departures and inject the required finances, but for now, Olmo is not a priority.
